BIPOC Alumni Career Conversation Series (BACCS): Seeking Inclusiveness and Belonging Amid Feelings of Otherness
Faculty, students, and staff at the Weitzman School of Design have been increasingly focused on the impact of race and systemic racism on the design community, and the need to increase BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color: Latinx, Pan-Asian, and Pacific Islander) representation in the design professions.
As part of our effort to increase the diversity of the professions we help sustain, the Offices of Professional Development and Leadership and Alumni Relations will host a BIPOC Alumni Career Conversation Series (BACCS) to provide a safe forum for incoming and returning students to network with BIPOC alumni, ask career questions, and learn from others’ experiences. We especially encourage our new Weitzman students to join these discussions! While these conversations are designed for supporting BIPOC students, the discussions are open to all Weitzman students.
Our next discussion in this series is “Seeking Inclusiveness and Belonging Amid Feelings of Otherness” on Thursday, August 26, at 6pm ET. This is an informal, 60-90 minute discussion on Zoom. Our alumni will share their experiences with feelings of otherness on campus and in the workplace. We will leave time at the end for students who might have questions.
Please contact Kali Meeks for the registration Zoom link.
