Weitzman Alumni Named AIA 2019 Fellows The 2019 Jury of Fellows from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) elevated 115 AIA members to its prestigious College of Fellows, including five University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design alumni.
, , , The Man Behind the Met, Sam Olshin, MArch'86 After a global tour, The Power of Penn Campaign returns to Philadelphia on April 2 with an event at the Metropolitan Opera House. The architect behind the restoration of the Met Philly is Sam Olshin, MArch'86 and member of the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design Alumni Board, and Principal at the firm of Atkin Olshin Schade Architects. Olshin discusses how he stays connected with Penn and the challenges of resurrecting a historic venue.

PennPraxis Launches Toolkit for Neighborhood Preservation “The Toolkit encompasses the whole gamut of neighborhood preservation, all the way from taking care of an individual house, to improving the quality of new construction, supporting small businesses, promoting local engagement, and strengthening social fabric,”  Julie Donofrio, managing director of PennPraxis says.
University of Pennsylvania Names School of Design in Recognition of Stuart Weitzman’s Lifetime Commitment and Support of Penn The University of Pennsylvania will name its School of Design in honor of award-winning designer and footwear icon Stuart Weitzman, Wharton Class of 1963, in recognition of both his ongoing philanthropic support of the University and his active engagement in its academic activities. 
Laurie Olin Will Receive an Honorary Doctor of Arts from Penn Laurie Olin, practice professor emeritus of landscape architecture at PennDesign, will receive an honorary doctor of arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania at the 2019 Commencement Ceremony. 
Introductions: Sophie Hochhäusl Meet Sophie Hochhäusl, assistant professor of architecture. Her scholarly work centers on modern architecture and urban culture in Austria, Germany, and the United States, with a focus on the history of social movements, women’s and gender studies and environmental history.
