Externships and firm visits offer Weitzman students invaluable exposure to real-world design practice, bridging the gap between academic learning and professional experience. Short-term externships provide the opportunity to work closely with industry mentors, gain hands-on skills, and experience the day-to-day operations of design firms during a focused, weeklong period. Likewise, firm visits allow groups of students to engage directly with professionals, explore diverse work environments, and ask questions that deepen their understanding of career paths and firm cultures. Together, these experiences help students build meaningful connections, develop practical skills, and prepare with confidence for their future in the design professions.
